Police are alerting the public after three separate cases of children being approached by strangers and asked to go for a ride in Scarborough.

On June 3, police said children were approached by a man and woman on school property, in the Neilson Avenue and Sloley Road area, and asked to take a ride with them in their car.

Later that day police said a boy was riding his bike in the same area after school, when he was approached by two men in a van who asked him if he wanted to play video games with them.

In each of the incidents, the children refused the invitation and returned to school to immediately report the incident to a teacher and police. No children were harmed in the incidents.

Police described the vehicles and suspects as follows:

  • Vehicle one: A four-door, gold, silver or brown vehicle. The man and woman were described as having black hair.
  • Vehicle two: An older model white cube van with a sliding door. Driver and passenger are described as white men, aged 40 to 50 years old. One man was bald with a beard and black pants while the second man had spiked black hair, blue jeans and a grey T-shirt with a skull on the front.
  • Vehicle three: A white van with no windows in the back. Driver is described as a white male in his 40s with a “man bun” hairstyle.

Police are asking parents to speak with their children to make them aware of the dangers of going anywhere with a stranger and what to do if approached by a stranger.
