Olympic champions to compete at 2016 Canada Cup of Curling

A trio of Olympic gold medalists will be among those competing at the 2016 Home Hardware Canada Cup of Curling in Brandon later this year.

Winnipegger Jennifer Jones will be joined by Brad Jacobs and Brad Gushue at the bonspiel. Manitobans Mike McEwen, Reid Carruthers and Kerri Einarson along with Kevin Koe, John Epping, Steve Laycock, Chelsea Carey, Val Sweeting, Kelsey Rocque, Rachel Homan and Tracy Fleury complete the field of fourteen teams.

Skips will compete for a berth to the 2017 Tim Hortons Roar of the Rings Canadian Curling Trials which will determine who will wear the maple leaf at the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, South Korea.

The Canada Cup marks the first Curling Canada event to be held in Brandon since 2002. The Wheat City has previously hosted two Briers (1963 and 1982), two Scotties Tournament of Hearts (1993 and 2002), the 1989 Canadian mixed championship, the 1995 Ford World Men’s and Women’s Championships and the 1997 Canadian Curling Trials.

The 2016 Home Hardware Canada Cup of Curling is scheduled for November 30 to December 4 at the Keystone Centre.
