One person hospitalized after New Westminster house fire

One person has been taken to hospital after a house fire in New Westminster.

The fire broke out around 2 a.m. on the second floor of a home on Lawrence Street near Ewen Avenue.

Crews say when they arrived, they quickly extinguished the flames, which were contained to one room.

All three people living in the home escaped, although one is being treated for injuries.

There is no word yet on the cause of the fire.
