Global Halifax, New Brunswick pick up five RTDNA award nomimations

Global Halifax and New Brunswick have been nominated for five Atlantic RTDNA awards, including creative use of video and continuing coverage.

The Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA) Awards honour the best journalists, programs, stations and newsgathering organizations in radio, television and digital each year.

Global Halifax’s coverage of Air Canada flight 624‘s crash landing at Halifax Stanfield International Airport has been nominated in the spot news category.

AC 624 crash landed in the middle of a snow storm after hitting power lines and an antennae array before bouncing and skidding on the runway.

Global Halifax was also nominated for continuing coverage for its reporting on the Christopher Phillips chemical scare.

In Jan. 2015, police were called to a Grand Desert, N.S. home after receiving a call that a man was storing several dangerous chemicals.

Global New Brunswick reporter Shelley Steeves picked up two short feature nominations.

New Brunswickers were introduced to Bud the guardian angel dog on Dec. 23.
