OSOYOOS – BC New Democrats are calling out the provincial Liberals after local MLA Linda Larson and Premier Christy Clark failed to show up for a school closure meeting in Osoyoos.
More than 900 residents showed their support for keeping Osoyoos Secondary and Osoyoos Elementary schools open at a city meeting Tuesday night.

The two schools have been facing reconfiguration due to decreasing enrollment numbers and less provincial funding.
In a news release, NDP education critic Rob Fleming said Larson’s absence represents a bigger issue.
“Closing schools in towns like Osoyoos is simply giving up on the community and the needs of families,” said Fleming. “These parents need a voice. MLAs have a responsibility to represent their community.”
Global News reached out to Larson, but has yet to receive a response.
School District 53 will decide on the fate of the two schools on April 6.
