Manitoba Moose send forward Axel Blomqvist to ECHL

The Manitoba Moose have sent rookie forward Axel Blomqvist back down to the ECHL’s Tulsa Oilers following a brief stint in the AHL.

Blomqvist played four games with the Moose since being called up on January 19. The 21-year-old is pointless in 14 AHL games this season but has racked up 12 shots, two penalty minutes and a -4 rating. Blomqvist has also dressed in 12 games with Tulsa, scoring a goal and three assists. The Swedish skater was signed to a three-year, entry-level contract by the Winnipeg Jets in 2013.

Blomqvist’s re-assignment marks the second forward the Moose have shipped to the ECHL in as many days. Manitoba sent Jimmy Lodge down to Tulsa on Saturday.

The Moose will look to snap an eight-game losing streak when they return from the AHL All-Star break on February 4 by hosting the Toronto Marlies.
