KELOWNA, B.C. – It almost looked like the Kelowna Rockets were going down to the Tri-City Americans Friday night on home ice if you were just watching the first half of the game.
The Americans took the first goal of the game and the first period saw three minor penalties to the Rockets. But it could have been a lot worse.
Into the second period, it was an early power play for Kelowna, allowing for Calvin Thurkauf to tie up the game.
And while the Americans responded to get ahead again, the Rockets continued to lead at shots on goal.
With 5 minutes left in the second period, Rodney Southam took his first goal after returning from an injury, tying up the game again.
Into the third, Rourke Chartier’s goal gave the Rockets an edge.
Tyson Bailey widens Kelowna’s lead later in the third, putting the Rockets ahead until the end of the game.
The final score, 4-2 Kelowna.
Great to be back, even better to get the win. – Rodney Southam
The third straight win improves the Rockets record to 32-11-3-0 on the season.
The Rockets host the Medicine Hat Tigers Saturday.
