REGINA – Regina Police held its annual service awards today, recognizing distinguished civilians and police officers.
The award acknowledges people who contribute to community safety and policing.
“It’s very nice, obviously to be recognized for the work we do and as a police service as a whole,” said Meritorious Performance award recipient Cst. Ryan Buhr.
“To me, honestly I think we do excellent work every day and as the chief said earlier, it doesn’t get recognized often enough.”
Twelve civilians and 11 police officers received awards in five different categories: Special Service, Community Policing, Meritorious Performance, Teamwork, Chief’s Commendation.
“All these people here, it’s nice to see a community that pulls together when the chips are down eh?” said Chief’s Commendation award recipient Cliff Cox.
“And I think that’s the big thing. And it’s nice to see that.”
Persons or organizations are nominated by employees of the Regina Police Service. Nominations are reviewed by both an awards committee and an executive committee.
