Calgary man charged with fentanyl trafficking

CALGARY – A 31-year-old Calgary man has been charged with fentanyl trafficking, police said Tuesday.

Last Thursday, police pulled over a vehicle near 20 Avenue N.W. and 15 Street N.W. after seeing “activity consistent with drug trafficking in the Sunridge area.” Forty-three fentanyl pills, cellphones and $1,135 was found in the vehicle.

Ricardo Esteban Jones has been charged with possession of fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking, possession of property obtained by crime, and two counts of breach of a recognizance.

Jones is set to appear in court Jan. 20.
