A 42-year-old male driver is dead following a single vehicle crash in Etobicoke early Friday morning.

The crash happened around 5:30 a.m. ET. at Lake Shore Boulevard West and Brown’s Line.

Toronto Traffic Services say a SUV was headed south on Brown’s Line when it was unable to make a sharp turn onto Lake Shore Boulevard and struck a bridge abutment east of the roadway.

Const. Clint Stibbe said the driver was not wearing a seatbelt and there was no sign of braking.

“There doesn’t appear to be any attempt at braking on the way in so it looks like that car came in at a fairly high rate of speed and didn’t attempt to stop prior to the collision,” said Const. Clint Stibbe.

Police say the man was ejected and run over by his own vehicle. No other occupants were inside the SUV at the time of the crash.
