There was a warm welcome Friday morning to Calgary’s first baby of 2016.
The six-pound, five-ounce baby girl, named Anna, was born at 18 seconds past midnight at the Foothills Medical Centre to parents Lidia and Sergiu Tacu.

Baby Anna was due Jan.6, but surprised her parents with an early New Year’s delivery.
Lidia Tacu called her baby girl a “little celebrity”.
She said she knew she had the New Year’s baby because she looked out the window from her hospital bed and saw fireworks.
This isn’t the couple’s first child. They also have a four-year-old son, Mark.
