REGINA – After 35 years a Regina woman has reunited with her adopted brother, and it was all triggered by a Facebook post.
In October, Kyla Towsley posted a picture on Facebook, looking for her brother who was born David Finlay Cameron. He was born in Saskatoon on June 13, 1980, and adopted by a Regina couple.

Global News reported on Towsley’s search on Nov. 14. On Nov.16, Towsley was contacted by her brother’s adopted family.
“It was very nerve wracking. One I didn’t really know how he felt about the situation,” explained Towsley, in regard to first reaching out to her brother on Facebook.
“Or that we went to great lengths to contact him. It was very uncomfortable at first.”
Towsley learned that her brother, who is no longer named David and does not want to be identified, tried to find his birth family a few years ago, but was unsuccessful.
After some initial online and phone conversations, he came to Regina to meet Towsley and his birth mom, Pat Cameron, in early December.
“We had a couple hours to just hang out and talk and discuss life. Other than that we text back and forth, but we’ll just have to wait and see what happens,” said Towsley.
After 35 years of separation, a relationship is starting to form amongst the three. There are hopes they will be able to have another in-person get together.
“I don’t know if I want to say a family relationship yet, but there’s definitely a friendship forming,” explained Towsley.
“My mom has a little more contact…I shouldn’t say a little more, but they talk on the phone every couple weeks or so.”
