TORONTO — A dog who became trapped on TTC subway tracks and caused a brief transit shutdown Tuesday has been put down due to her injuries.
TTC spokesman Brad Ross said a German shepherd became stuck under the electrified third rail in a tunnel just south of the station at around 2 p.m. Tuesday.
Crews cut power and Toronto Animal Services attended the scene. The dog, named Katie, was removed on a stretcher.
The veterinarian, Dr. Greg Usher said putting Katie down was “the kindest thing we could have done.”
Ross said the dog wandered away from home sometime this morning, but did not specify how she reached the tracks.
