Police lay murder charge after woman found dead south of Edmonton

CALGARY – Maskwacis RCMP have arrested a man in connection to the death of a woman south of Edmonton on Saturday.

Police found Kirsten Cutknife’s body in a house on the Samson Cree Nation town site at around 10 a.m.

On Monday, RCMP announced 19-year-old Joshua Crier of the Samson Cree Nation had been charged with second-degree murder in the death.

He has also been charged with assault with a weapon against 20-year-old Zoe Littlechild.

Police say all three were known to each other.

Crier has been remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Wetaskiwin Provincial Court on Dec. 17.

Cutknife’s cause of death hasn’t been released but police said she was found with “obvious signs of trauma.” An autopsy is scheduled to be completed in Edmonton on Dec. 2.
