REGINA – Soon some familiar bells will be ringing throughout Regina as the Salvation Army starts their annual kettle campaign.
For the first time ever, the Regina branch of the Salvation Army kicked off their Kettle Campaign at a school.
They chose to hold the launch at Thomson Community School because this year the Salvation Army hopes to teach kids, and the general public, that there are more ways to give.
“Although it is a financial campaign, it’s not just about raising funds. It really is about making a difference in the community,” said Maj. Bruce Mac Kenzie. “That’s not something you have to be a grown up with a full time job to do. It’s something we do every day when we choose to look out for our neighbours or help our neighbours, and that’s something that kids can do.”
On the financial side, the Salvation Army is hoping to raise $225,000 in this year’s campaign.
