HL: Bridge demolitions to disrupt weekend GO, Gardiner service

TORONTO – Two bridge demolition projects could cause major delays for drivers and GO Transit passengers this weekend.

Road crews are demolishing the 104-year-old Dunn Avenue and Dowling Avenue bridges that pass above the Metrolinx rail corridor parallel to Lakeshore Boulevard West.

Work is continuing for 48 straight hours and is scheduled to be complete by Sunday night.

Construction will disrupt traffic on the Gardiner Expressway in both directions. The right westbound lane is closed between Dufferin and Dowling, leaving two lanes open for traffic.

The ramp from Jameson Avenue to the Gardiner westbound is also closed for the duration of construction.

Both closures are in effect until Monday at 5 a.m.

Road work will also lead to service reductions on GO transit’s Lakeshore East and West lines. GO Transit is running shuttle buses between Union and Port Credit stations.
