HALIFAX – A dispute over a secretly taped conversation has evolved into a political feud in the Nova Scotia legislature.
The speaker of the legislature took the rare step yesterday of issuing a warrant ordering former cabinet minister Andrew Younger to produce a copy of the tape he made of a conversation he had with the premier’s chief of staff.
The former Liberal environment minister has until Monday at noon to provide the full recording of his talk with Kirby McVicar.
A portion of the audio and an anonymous letter, which were dropped off Wednesday at a government office, suggest McVicar was trying to bribe Younger by offering a job to his wife.
If Younger doesn’t provide the complete recording, he could be found in contempt of the house and possibly expelled.
