EDMONTON — Hockey fans who took the LRT to the Oilers game at Rexall Place Wednesday night were forced to wait for buses after a portion of the system went down due to a power failure.

In a pair of tweets sent just before 11 p.m. Wednesday night, the City of Edmonton said bus service would replace trains on the Metro Line between MacEwan and NAIT stations. Buses were also running instead of trains on the Capital Line between Stadium and Clareview stations.

A spokesperson with the City of Edmonton said the lines went down at around 9:42 p.m. because a breaker flipped. Melissa Lovatt said transit users leaving Rexall Place would not be charged for their bus fare.

Lovatt expected the delay would be about 45 minutes.
