The crown summarized their case by reiterating they believe Calnen killed Jordan and that’s why he had to burn her body.

Calnen’s defence lawyer, Peter Planetta, reminded the jury not to speculate and to base their decision on evidence that was presented in the courtroom.

Jordan, 34, went missing in March of 2013. Two months later, police officers charged Calnen with her murder. The 52-year-old has admitted he indecently interfered with Jordan’s remains, by burning them, but maintains he did not kill her.

The trial was scheduled to last for five weeks, but wrapped up in three.

The crown called more than a dozen witnesses and introduced a variety of evidence, including women’s clothing and hundreds of text messages as evidence in their case.

The defence, on the other hand, chose not call any witnesses or introduce any evidence on their behalf.

The judge presiding over the case will finish instructing the jury Thursday. After that, the case will officially be handed over to the jury, who will determine whether or not there is enough evidence to convict Calnen of his girlfriend’s murder.
