But “The Donald” was live from New York Saturday night joining the cast for the fourth episode of the comedy staple’s 41st season.

Before Trump even made an appearance, Larry David once again killed as Bernie Sanders in the opening skit delivering the famous throwaway line that opens every show – well, sort of. “Live from New York it’s… ahhh forget about it,” he said.

Right from the start of his opening monologue Trump flexed his famous ego.

“Many of the greats have hosted this show,” he said. “Including me, in 2004.”

Trump then joked about his feud with Rosie O’Donnell and brought on SNL cast member Taran Killam and former cast member Darrell Hammond who did spot on imitations of him.

It was Larry David though who once again stole the spotlight, yelling out “Donald Trump is a racist!” from the audience.

“I heard if I yelled that, they’d give me $5,000,” said David with a shrug, echoing an offer made publicly by one of the Hispanic groups protesting Trump’s appearance.

“As a businessman,” Trump told him, “I can fully respect that.”

In his first skit, Trump jumped right into some of the controversies surrounding him. He played the president of the United States in the year 2018, accepting a cheque from the Mexican president for a wall that was built between the two countries. He also talked about a Trump casino that he had built in Syria. His daughter, Ivanka Trump, also appeared in the sketch.

During a skit in which he did not appear, Trump live-tweeted comments off-camera that were flashed on the screen about “SNL” cast members performing a skit:

“Cecily Strong is not a nice person.”

“Kate McKinnon was born stupid.”

“I love SNL … SNL loves me. But everyone in this sketch is a total loser who can bite my dust.”

Trump also danced in a mock video of Drake’s “Hotline Bling,” played a disgruntled laser harpist, a hack music producer and, of course, himself.

Trump’s performance was trending on social media throughout the show but the early reviews on Twitter were mixed.
