Police identify body as missing woman

File / Global News

BRIDGEWATER, N.S. – Police have identified a body found in a wooded area in Bridgewater, N.S., as being a woman they had earlier reported as missing.

The Bridgewater police force tweeted on Tuesday evening that autopsy results confirmed the body officers discovered in an area off North King Street, just outside the downtown core, was that of 58-year-old Catherine Burgoyne.

The investigators said the Nova Scotia Medical Examiner’s Office conducted the autopsy.

The news release also says police are continuing to treat the case as a sudden death, and there are many unanswered questions.

Bridgewater police say they’re looking for any information from people who may have encountered Burgoyne in the days before her death.
