Two men in custody after vehicle collision with cyclist Thursday morning

WINNIPEG — Two men are in custody after allegedly “becoming confrontational” with the driver of a vehicle that collided with a cyclist Thursday morning.

Emergency personnel responded to the area of McNichol Street and Manitoba Avenue around 8 a.m. for reports of a vehicle colliding with a cyclist.

When they reached the scene, they found an adult female in critical condition suffering from a lower body injury. She was transported to hospital in unstable condition but has since been upgraded to stable.

The female had been cycling northbound down McNichol Street and attempted to cross Manitoba Avenue when she collided with a vehicle going westbound which had been trying to turn south onto McNichol Street.

Two men, 41 and 19-years-old, arrived at the scene shortly after the collision and “became confrontational” according to a Winnipeg Police news release Thursday afternoon. A witness at the scene told Global News that a fight broke out shortly after the collision.

The 41-year-old man is facing a charge of mischief of $5,000 and the 19-year-old is facing charges of uttering threats, possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose and mischief under $5,000.
