Wind warning ended for southern Saskatchewan

Environment Canada has issued a wind warning in southern Saskatchewan. A fast moving cold front and low pressure system will sweep across southern areas of the province Sunday bringing strengthening westerly winds.

The federal agency said severe gusts up to 100 kilometres per hour were expected beginning in southwest Saskatchewan Sunday morning before spreading eastward to the Manitoba border by the afternoon.

Winds are expected to remain strong into the evening hours before diminishing late this evening.

So far, the peak wind gust reported was 109 km/h in Leader, Sask.

This type of warning is issued when there is a significant risk of damaging winds. People are being reminded that loose objects may be tossed by the wind and cause injury or damage to property.
