Toronto Blue Jays fever has hit Canadians everywhere from coast-to-coast, with the excitement also taking the social media world by storm.

Several of the Jays players garnered thousands of mentions as well but it should come as no surprise that American League MVP candidate Josh Donaldson led the way.

Donaldson, who had a monster first season in Toronto hitting 41 homers while knocking in 123 runs, was mentioned more than 19,000 times, over 5,000 more times than the team’s starting pitcher Marcus Stroman.

The fans were pretty active when Donaldson crushed a full-count offering from Cole Hamels out of the Rogers Centre in the first inning with an average of over 1,200 tweets per minute — but that was only the second-most-active Jays-Rangers moment on Twitter Friday.
