There was a lot of monkey business happening in a Sanford, Florida neighbourhood on Monday.
A pet monkey named Zeke escaped its cage and began making the streets of the Florida area its playground for about 20 minutes by swinging off street poles and jumping on top of a police car.
The owner of Zeke is properly licensed to have the animal and the cage meets state standards, said a wildlife official.
“The monkey got out through no real fault of the owner per se. He had proper caging, like I said. Monkey’s just a little smarter sometimes,” told Steve McDaniel to WESH News.
“It was just being a monkey. It wasn’t aggressive, it wasn’t going after anybody, it didn’t bite anybody,” he continued.
Even so, some homeowners might not get their mail since Zeke snacked on it during its playtime.
Police were able to capture the animal after using a water bottle to distract the exotic pet, and the owner picked Zeke up shortly after.
