Manitoba minimum wage set to increase Thursday

WINNIPEG – Come Thursday morning some Manitobans may find they have a little extra spending money in their budgets.

As of Oct. 1 the minimum wage will be increase 30 cents from $10.70 to $11.

“The Manitoba government has increased the minimum wage every year since 2000,” said Labour and Immigration Minister Erna Braun in a press release. “This most recent increase builds on our efforts to improve the lives of working people and their families.”

The raise will keep Manitoba as fourth highest minimum wage among the provinces.

Minimum wage since 2000:

  • April 1, 2001 – $6.25
  • April 1, 2002 – $6.50
  • April 1, 2003 – $6.75
  • April 1, 2004 – $7
  • April 1, 2005 – $7.25
  • April 1, 2006 – $7.60
  • April 1, 2007 – $8
  • April 1, 2008 – $8.50
  • May 1, 2009 – $8.75
  • Oct. 1, 2009 – $9
  • Oct. 1, 2010 – $9.50
  • Oct. 1, 2011 – $10
  • Oct. 1, 2012 – $10.25
