Traffic hiccup starting Monday on Saskatoon’s Idylwyld Drive

SASKATOON – Heads up Saskatoon motorists on their way to work Monday morning. Crews with the City of Saskatoon’s bridge maintenance program will be repairing the Idylwyld Drive and 1st Avenue overpasses above 19th Street.

The work will be carried out in two phases and is expected to last around five weeks.

Phase 1 involves concrete repairs and is expected to take two to three weeks of 24-hour restrictions to complete. Idylwyld Drive over the 19th Street southbound curb lane and 1st Avenue under Idylwyld’s southbound curb lane will be closed during this phase.

During the second phase, crews will replace joint seals on the bridge, requiring traffic restrictions between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m.

Repairs are estimated to cost approximately $300,000.

According to city officials, access to Sid Buckwold Bridge will be maintained at all times, but drivers should expect delays.

Also on Monday, the city is expected to start conducting its annual taxi inspections. This will require a 30 km/h reduced speed zone until Friday on 11th Street West near the intersection of Highway 11.
