Lethbridge ‘Free the Fuzz’ raises funds for Special Olympics

Cst. Les Vonkeman waits behind bars at Free The Fuzz. Global News

LETHBRIDGE- The annual “Free the Fuzz” fundraiser kicked off Friday, and local law enforcement need your help.

The tables have been turned: members of the Lethbridge Regional Police Service, Alberta Sheriffs and the Lethbridge Correctional Centre are behind bars.

Officers have been “jailed” for 30 hours at both Walmart locations in the city.

The only way they can be freed is by donations from you.

Last year $14,000 was raised and organizers are hoping to beat that number this year.

The proceeds of Free the Fuzz go to the Alberta Law Enforcement Torch Run, which benefits the Special Olympics.

The makeshift jails will be set up until Saturday at 6 p.m.
