Quebecer charged after crash kills young family

SAGUENAY, Que. – A Quebec man is facing criminal charges after his vehicle collided and killed a young couple and their four-year-old boy.

Yves Martin, 35, had been charged in a Saguenay courtroom on Monday with impaired driving and dangerous driving.

Martin was also charged with impaired driving causing bodily harm and dangerous driving causing bodily harm, as the child was still fighting for his life in hospital at the time.

The man and woman died on impact Saturday evening, while their son was transported to a Montreal hospital.

Martin has been ordered detained at least until his bail hearing Friday.

His lawyer did not say whether he will seek his client’s release.
