REGINA – The rides are set-up, and food vendors are cooking for this year’s Queen City Ex.

Despite the rain and wind, workers were braving the elements in order to ensure everything was ready for when the fair kicks off July 29.

While the weather shouldn’t affect the construction of the fair, the parade and fireworks were cancelled.

With sun and more sun in the forecast, organizers are hopeful the recent wet weather hasn’t put a damper on fair-goers or their appetites.

“There is a lobster wrapped corn dog, there’s maple bacon noodles, there’s a glazed grilled cheese doughnut for people that are interested in that kind of stuff,” said Josh Shaw, the event manager for Evraz Place.

“There’s something for everybody down here. Certainly don’t bring your diet down here. We encourage everyone to come down to the fair and go nuts.”

The construction of the stadium has taken up some of the parking for the event, but it isn’t expected to cause any problems.

Organizers encourage those going to take transit and car-pool due to how quickly parking can fill up.
