Police say this is not a random attack.

“These events are more than concerning, they’re very very unsettling,’ Duty Insp. Darren Leggatt said.

It was several hours before the body of the man that died at the scene was taken out of a silver SUV, that’s a focus at the crime scene.

Investigators are not sharing any details on possible suspects but will be looking at local businesses’ surveillance video.

People in the area say they are concerned with the level of violence in Calgary.

“It’s getting too big and it’s getting too much crime. It’s happening now just every now and then, it’s happening daily. You hear it every day in the news, every day,” said Ron Holobow who lives nearby.

Another man, that asked not to be identified says he saw a man in the area with a gun around the time of the shooting.

“He pulled out a new pair of shoes, a new pair of pants, got changed or whatever and  then pulled out a piece like right in front of us. He pulled it out and I looked at him and them and said guys, guys we don’t want this.”

At this time, police are not connecting the two incidents but are following up on any leads.

“These investigations are very complex but there is no information to link this particular event with any other event we’re investigating at this point,’ Insp. Leggatt said.

If deemed a homicide, this will be Calgary’s 12th murder so far this year.

An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.
