A surveillance video captured a 10-year-old Chinese schoolboy being dragged by a moving bus about 20 meters as his bag got stuck in the door.
The video taken on June 25 showed a backpack was trapped inside the bus door at the moment when the boy was getting off the bus. Then the driver started the bus with the trapped boy running with the moving bus. The bus was forced to stop finally after 20 meters.
“I was dragged by the bus after my bag was stuck. Later I was hurt by the bus wheel, ” said the boy surnamed Zhou.
“It’s a passerby who witnessed the scene to stop the bus. He reported it to us after knowing the boy’s situation. We trusted him to send the boy to the hospital with his car,” said Li Bangming, leader of this bus line.
The boy sustained a fracture to his left leg and is being treated in a hospital, according to a doctor.
The preliminary investigation showed the driver did not notice the boy as he closed the door.
Currently, the driver has been suspended from his position and is under investigation.
