Flooding disrupts CTrain service, storm knocks out power on Tuesday

CALGARY –  Calgary’s CTrain service was disrupted Tuesday afternoon after heavy rain caused flooding on the tracks at Chinook station in the city’s southeast.

Calgary Transit said shuttle buses were set up between Heritage and 39 Avenue station just after 4 p.m. CTrain service resumed just after 5 p.m. but with restricted speed and significant delays.

Enmax said 3,000 customers lost power due to the storm just after 4 p.m. The southwest communities affected were: Kelvin Grove, Glenmore Park, Eagle Ridge, Chinook Park, Pump Hill, Palliser, Oakridge, Glenmore Park, and Bayview. Enmax said power had been restored by 4:50 p.m. to all but eight customers.
