775 vehicles stopped during Highway 11 traffic enforcement

SASKATOON – Saskatoon police and Mounties were out in full force Saturday on Highway 11 for the Roughriders home opener. The increased enforcement resulted in 775 vehicles being stopped.

Three drivers ended up being charged with impaired driving. Police also laid five alcohol charges and one for a controlled drug.

Along with those charges, police handed out 40 traffic tickets including 30 for speeding, two to drivers going more than 50 km/h over the speed limit and five for going more than 35 km/h over the posted limited.

Another two drivers were handed tickets for passing emergency vehicles at a speed greater than 60 km/h and one was given a ticket for cell phone use.

Police plan to continue with increased enforcement measures on game days throughout the 2015 season.
