Man wears high heels for a day, calls restaurant heel policies ‘insane’

WATCH ABOVE: Brandon Cohen wanted to know why women are always complaining about wearing high heels, so he strapped on a pair and wore them for an entire day. 

CALGARY – Alberta servers angry about what they call mandatory high heel policies at the restaurants where they work have gained an unlikely ally.

New York-based BroBible producer Brandon Cohen decided to spend an entire day wearing high heels, and a video of his experience has been viewed over 400,000 times.

Cohen says wearing heels was way more difficult and more “painful” than he expected. He spoke with our health specialist Heather Yourex on Friday where he weighed in on those controversial high heel policies servers say are enforced at a number of Calgary restaurants.

“That’s just kind of insane to me,” said Cohen. “It’s one thing if a girl likes high heels and wants to wear them and they’re used to them – I understand if you wear them a lot you get used to them, and it definitely takes some practice, but to me that’s kind of like saying, ‘All right, all guy servers have to walk around with dumbbells over their head for the entire day.’”

Cohen said he’d originally planned to do a lot more during his day in heels, but had to throw in the towel on things like dancing because his legs hurt too much.
