WATCH ABOVE: Isaiah and Jeremiah both admit they were scared when they ran into the fire.
TORONTO — A pair of young boys in a Florida trailer park are being called heroes after they rescued an infant and baby from a burning mobile home.
Isaiah Francis, 10, and Jeremiah Grimes, 11, smelled smoke at Lake John’s Motel Efficiency in Oakland while they were playing video games Tuesday and discovered the neighbouring house ablaze.
“So we ran over there as fast as we could, and the dad was outside trying to find water,” Francis explained to WOFL. “We asked them if there were any kids in there, and he said, ‘Yes!’ We said, ‘Where?’ He said, ‘In the kitchen!'”
The brave duo called 911 — the father hadn’t yet — and then put their own lives at risk to save the two inside.
“I was scared, I went in there, got thru my fear and I did it,” Isaiah added.
“I grabbed the infant, and Isaiah grabbed the one-and-a-half year old,” explained Jeremiah.
Isaiah went on to explain that the fire had “started by the couch” and had been close to the babies when they found them.
Eventually fire fighters arrived and rescued two more children while Isaiah and Jeremiah took the two children they had rescued to Isaiah’s house, according to a FOX report, and gave them water.
The parents of the rescued children thanked both Isaiah and Jeremiah. But Jeremiah’s parents may take that a step further.
“I was talking to his father and we’re gonna give him a surprise tomorrow,” Stephanie Grimes said. “We don’t know what we’re going to do yet, but it will be a big surprise for being a hero.”
