Pamela Porter released from jail

MONTREAL — Pamela Porter, the wife of the former head of the McGill University Health Centre, Arthur Porter, has left jail and is now living in a halfway house.

She had been behind bars since May 2013.

During a hearing in front of the Quebec Parole Board Commission, Porter said felt betrayed by her husband and does not want to speak to him ever again.

Arthur Porter has been detained in Panama since May 2013 and has been fighting extradition.

He faces fraud charges related to the $1.3-billion MUHC superhospital project.

His wife was sentenced to 33 months in jail after she pleaded guilty to two counts of money laundering.

The Commission agreed to release her early, saying there was no risk she would be a repeat offender.

Porter still has to do 240 hours of community service.
