REGINA – The Queen City’s water woes are still listed as day-to-day according to the City of Regina.
The water issues are improving slightly and the city is paying close attention. Over the weekend the Buffalo Pound Water Treatment Plant worked on a technical solution to help the water issues. Collectively, between residents, commercial clients, and civic use, water conservation is approaching the desired 25 per cent.
The quantity of water moving through Buffalo Pound Treatment Plant is improving and city reservoirs are filling up. The city has been able to reduce reliance on the eight city wells being used to supplement our supply.

Buffalo Pound Lake’s water quality is also improving as the lake is flushed with water through provincial dams – which could take up to 30 days to finish.
The City of Regina initially asked residents to watch their water use on May 25th.
Several years of wet weather and increased runoff has produced high levels of algae in Buffalo Pound lake has impacted the water treatment for the city this summer.
The city has no plans for mandatory water rationing, but says it may be forced to consider that option if water condition and usage rates don’t improve.
