The Kansas City, Kansas police department is apologizing after photos surfaced of two officers posing for pictures in front of a vandalized stop sign that read “COPS STOP MURDER’N’”.
Resident Celeste Lona spotted the officers posing in front of the stop sign holding patrol rifles and snapped a few photos of their photoshoot.
“They were just smiling and giggling about it,” Lona told CBS affiliate KCTV. “That was totally unacceptable. Very unprofessional actually.”
Lona said she is not sure who vandalized the sign but said the sign was replaced the same day she posted her photos online.
The police department said they are investigating the incident and Police Chief Terry Zeigler said he was “disappointed” by the photos.
