TORONTO – The U.S. Secret Service detained a man on Thursday for attempting to fly a drone near the White House fence.

According to NBC News, the White House was briefly under lockdown and several streets around the building have been closed.

A federal law enforcement official told the Associated Press it was unclear if the person intended to fly the aircraft at the executive mansion or whether he was trying to take aerial photos.

U.S. President Barack Obama was not in the White House at the time of the incident.

In February, a man was detained after he lost control of a drone and it crashed on the White House lawn.
