WATCH: Why did the toddler cross the road? ‘I had to go to McDonald’s’

A fearless young boy was found trying to cross a busy road in Abilene, Texas with his two dogs as traffic sped through the intersection.

When NBC affiliate KRBC asked the four-year-old why he was trying to cross the street, he responded, “I had to go to McDonald’s.”

According to Google Maps, the nearest McDonald’s is nearly 2 kilometres and a 22 minute walk away from where Xavier was found.

KRBC reports that many drivers stopped to divert traffic and help bring Xavier back to safety. Police arrived at the scene and helped track down his parents.

His mother Julie Vazquez says she was surprised to find out her son was missing.

“They called me and told me my little boy was missing,” said Vazquez through tears.

The trio were unharmed during their adventure and Xavier seemed to be much more interested with the police officer’s motorcycle than getting a bite to eat.
