EDMONTON – A 50-year-old inmate in the minimum security unit at Bowden Institution escaped from the prison Thursday.
Staff members discovered that Sylvain Martin was not accounted for during the 10:30 p.m. count.
He is serving a nearly 10-year sentence for offences including fraud, obstruction, possession of a schedule 1 substance and forgery.
Martin is described as 5’5” weighing about 148 lbs. He has a fair complexion, blue eyes and auburn hair. He has scars on his lower back and his eyes and has tattoos on his right forearm, upper back and lower back.
Anyone who has information on the whereabouts of Martin is asked to contact Innisfail RCMP.
Correctional Services Canada is investigating the circumstances of this incident and working with the police to locate the offender as quickly as possible.
