Friday April 17th  on The Morning News

At 6:45 am we’re joined by Olympian Ellie Black.  The Halifax-born and raised gymnast tells us how she stays healthy and keeps her cool while training and competing.   She also shares her goals for the upcoming Pan Am Games in Toronto this summer.

In a report released Thursday Nova Scotia’s Chief Medical Examiner finds that Clayton Miller didn’t suffer any beatings or other injuries in the lead up to his death. On the same day the Serious Incident Response Team said it found no evidence to show police were in contact with Miller prior to his death. At 7:15am Nova Scotia’s Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Matt Bowes and SiRT  Director Ron MacDonald join us to explain their findings.

Newfoundland country singer Jason Benoit joins us at 7:45am. He’s one of Canada’s hottest new country artists after exploding on the scene last year with his surprise rendition of the dance hit “This is What it Feels Like.” Friday we’ll get a special Morning News performance!

At 8:15am Global National reporter Vassey Kapelos joins us from Ottawa for a preview of her upcoming special looking at forced marriages. The practice of forcing someone to marry against their will, is considered a human rights abuse.  It happens to millions of women and girls around the world every year. Now a 16×9 investigation into forced marriage found some of the victims right here in Canada.
