EDMONTON – Alberta NDP Leader Rachel Notley says she will reverse a $1-billion cut to health care if her party is elected.

Notley says it’s important to reintroduce stability and health care can’t cut its way back to prosperity.

Notley made the comments in Edmonton as she outlined the first planks of her party’s health platform.

She said an NDP government would also stop a plan recently announced by Premier Jim Prentice to regionalize a health system that was centralized seven years ago by the Tories.

The plan returns decisions on patient care to separate districts while keeping accounting and other matters centralized.

Notley says health care has been pummelled with constant change since 2008 and it’s time to focus on patients rather than organizational charts.
