WINNIPEG – It’s a tradition many families look forward to every year.
Easter is a religious holiday that brings friends and families together giving them a chance to catch up, often around a church service.
“My kids… at least they have a little bit of this Easter tradition in their minds so hopefully someday when they have their kids, they’ll pass it on,” said Agnieszka Kotula, who spent Sunday morning at church with her family.
About 100 Winnipeggers enjoyed a Manitoba themed turkey feast at the Metropolitan Entertainment Centre Sunday afternoon.
“The pace of life today is… fast paced and we have few times when family can get together and this is one of them,” said CEO of Canad Inns Paul Robson.
And shelters such as Siloam Mission were also busy serving warm meals to Winnipeg’s less fortunate, with more than 4,000 people coming in for a special feast from Friday to Sunday.
“The whole world celebrates the holiday and if you’re homeless… you feel left out,” said Judy Richichi of Siloam Mission. “To be able to provide that, it allows us to form a unique bond to say you know what, we care.”
