Francis Boucher surrenders to Quebec police 4 days after walking out of jail

MONTREAL — The man who was probably considered the most wanted person in Quebec surrendered himself to authorities late Thursday night.

Thirty-nine-year-old Francis Boucher, a former member of the Rockers, a Hells puppet gang, turned up at Montreal’s Bordeaux Prison with his lawyer at 11:50 p.m.

Boucher offered no resistance and appeared to be calm and relaxed.

Two investigations have been launched to determine if Boucher’s release was an administrative error or whether he tricked prison guards to allow him to leave.

At the time of his release, Boucher was serving a 117-day prison sentence for uttering threats to police officers.

His prison term was expected to end sometime in May 2015.

Boucher has also served a 10-year prison term for gangsterism, conspiracy to commit murder and drug-trafficking.

Strapatsas told Global News his client is not guilty of trying to escape from prison early.

“My client was released by prison officials,” he said.

“He believes he was properly released,”

In a brief interview Thursday night as he turned himself in, Boucher told Global News he only found out about he was a wanted man on Wednesday.

Boucher’s whereabouts over the past four days are unclear.

He could face several new charges Friday at the Montreal courthouse, including “being at large without an excuse,” which carries a maximum two-year prison term.
