Tickets go on sale March 5th for Lieutenant Governor of Alberta Distinguished Artist Awards

The Allied Arts Council of Lethbridge and the City are teaming up to host the Lieutenant Governor of Alberta Distinguished Arts Awards on June 6th,2015. The awards are Alberta’s most prestigious recognition of outstanding achievement awards in the arts.

The event includes a Gala performance and Awards ceremony at the Yates Theatre. It will be directed by Jeremy Mason and feature performances by Edmonton-based R&B jazz singer and songwriter Nuela Charles and Calgary-based hip hop group Transit.

In a unique twist, students in the Culinary Arts program at Lethbridge College will also be exhibiting ice sculptures at the Gala.

Lethbridge will be the sixth Alberta city to host the awards since their inception in 2003. $30,000 in awards is up for grabs, with the winners chosen from nominations received from individual organizations. They can be artists, collectors, art builders and supporters who have contributed in a major way to the arts in Alberta.

The nomination deadline was February 27th, and the recipients will be announced in early May.
