SASKATOON – Police had to Taser a man following a confrontation early Thursday morning in Saskatoon. Officers had been called to a report of a disturbance at an apartment in the 300-block of Avenue R South.

They arrived to find three people, one who allegedly became agitated and violent towards the officers. According to the police report, he refused to comply with verbal orders and became more agitated.

He then made threats against the officers resulting in the use of the Taser.

The 32-year-old man was arrested and taken to hospital for observation. Police officials believe he was under the influence of intoxicants.

He is facing three charges of assaulting a police officer, two charges of uttering threats to cause death and a charge of resisting arrest. The unnamed man will appear in provincial court once he is released from hospital.

It’s the second time in less than a week that a Taser has been used. On Sunday, police used a Taser on man who stated he had a firearm and threatened to harm an officer.
