Former Toronto mayor Rob Ford selling infamous crack confession necktie on eBay

WATCH: Marianne Dimain has the details of how you can get your hands on Rob Ford’s most popular pieces of clothing and accessories.

Toronto’s former mayor Rob Ford is auctioning off what appears to be the necktie he wore on the day he first admitted to smoking crack cocaine.

The city councillor tweeted Wednesday that “new items” were up for sale on eBay. Ford announced earlier this month he would be auctioning some of his memorabilia with 10 per cent of the proceeds going to research and care facilities for liposarcoma, a rare form of cancer he was diagnosed with last year.

Ford’s former chief of staff, Mark Towhey, tweeted that now the public could own the “priceless” memorabilia “THE football tie.”

“This is the original piece, not a reproduction — there is only one of these in existence,” the description reads on eBay. The item is currently selling for more than $1,400.

Other items the former mayor has listed on eBay include a “keep calm and carry on” poster selling for $102, an old pair of pyjama pants for $56, and Saskatchewan Roughriders Jersey selling for $501.

Ford wore the “football tie” on Nov. 5, 2013 during his stunning public admission that he had smoked crack cocaine. The revelation came just days after police said they had obtained the infamous “crack tape,” which Ford had denied existed.

Ford’s four years as mayor were marred by scandals that included a police investigation into alleged criminal activity, appearing inebriated in multiple videos, and taking a leave of absence to attend rehab.

During the 2014 Toronto mayoral election, Ford was forced to withdraw after being diagnosed with cancer. He ran instead for council and was elected in Ward 2 while his brother took over his  mayoral campaign before eventually losing to John Tory.
