TORONTO – The visitation and funeral date has been set for Elijah Marsh, the 3-year-old Toronto boy who died after wandering in the cold weather last week.
Marsh was staying at his grandmother’s west-end apartment unit when he somehow found his way outside wearing only a t-shirt, diaper and boots.
Security footage showed the boy leaving the apartment lobby at 4 a.m. on Feb. 19.
He was found about six hours later by searchers just blocks away and taken to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

An online fundraising campaign, which closed on Sunday with an initial goal of $20,000, has since raised more than $170,000 to help cover the cost of Elijah’s funeral.
“I appreciate the time you have given me, but now it’s time to say thank you, for you donations,” Georgette Marsh, Elijah’s mother, said in a statement released Monday.
“I know so many people, people who don’t know him, love him and feel for me and family who are grieving so much.”
The family said it is inviting the public to attend the visitation and funeral to be held Thursday and Saturday respectively.
The visitation will take place this Thursday from 2 to 9 p.m. at the Vescio Funeral Home at 2080 Dufferin Street.
Meanwhile, Elijah’s funeral will be held on Saturday, 11 a.m. at the St. Matthew’s United Church at 729 St. Clair Avenue West.
The burial will follow the service at Prospect Cemetery at 1450 St. Clair Avenue West.
The family has also created a Facebook page for those who want to leave a special message.
